This is an operational wargame on the campaign of Bezzecca, the greatest italian victory during the Third Italian Independence War, one of the brilliant operations guided by general Garibaldi, one of the heroes of his time.
The game, that adapts to the Italian theater the system used by Avalon Hill's for Great Campaigns of the Civil War, privileges movement and reaction over the slow moving of great masses of men, as the campaign was fought over the Alps. Combat is a function of movement, and the game considers the slow attrition of the units, morale and territorial objectives, with both players having good chances to win (the Austrians with a rapid counterattack in the early stages of the battle or with a good retreat, the Italians with initiative and mobility, trying to reach the edges of the map before a political order may stop their advance).
Map is 4A4, 236 counters, about 3 hours playing time, good even for solitaire play
